Fridge and Freezer Stands – For use in Zone 2 Hazardous Areas
Australian Standard AS/NZS 60079.14:2017 Explosive atmospheres Design selection, erection and initial inspection requires fridges and freezers located in Zone 2 Hazardous Areas to be elevated a minimum of 300 mm above the floor.
The reason for this is because there is a potential for volatile vapours with a low flash point to pool on the floor. By lifting the fridge or freezer 300 mm above the floor the chance of the vaours reaching potential sources of ignition such as compressors, capacitors, switches etc. is significantly reduced.
