Static Laboratory Freezers

Static Laboratory Freezers are designed for the storage of temperature-critical products.

The benefit to a static freezer design is that it doesn’t have an auto-defrost cycle. An auto-defrost cycle works by heating the evaporative coils to melt any ice that has formed on them. The heat required for this operation can seriously affect the temperature within a freezer. It is not uncommon to see the internal air temperature during an auto-defrost cycle get as warm as -10°C.

As static freezers don’t have an auto-defrost cycle, they will need to be manually defrosted from time to time, which means that you will probably need another freezer on hand to transfer the freezer contents.
