Laboratory Chest Freezers

A laboratory chest freezer has some distinct advantages over an upright laboratory freezer.

Efficiency
As cold air sinks and a laboratory chest freezer opens from the top, the cold air stays inside and does not fall out as it will in an upright lab freezer. The upside of this is that a laboratory chest freezer will stay closer to the set temperature when the door is opened, it is likely to be more energy-efficient and capable of operating at a lower set temperature.

Lab Freezer Price
Due to the way that a lab chest freezer is constructed they usually offer more storage capacity per dollar spent.

Temperature Control
Laboratory chest freezers have a static refrigeration system and can maintain a very tight temperature range, making them ideal for temperature-sensitive products. The drawback to a static refrigeration system is that the laboratory freezer will need to be manually defrosted from time to time.
